Islamabad:Government Deploys Unprecedented Security Measures to Prevent PTI Protest in Islamabad.
In response to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party's potential protest, the government has taken comprehensive steps to ensure that the planned demonstration does not reach Islamabad. Sources confirm that the authorities have effectively sealed off internal routes from Punjab’s major divisions, including Sargodha, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, and Lahore, making it nearly impossible for PTI supporters to reach the capital.
Unprecedented Security Measures in Islamabad
The government has deployed over 40,000 security personnel in Islamabad, including 30,000 officers from Punjab and Azad Kashmir, and 8,000 from the Islamabad police. To ensure maximum control, armored vehicles, water cannons, and tear gas shells have been stationed at critical points.
Roadblocks and Container Installations in Key Areas
Over 1,200 containers have been placed across the city, with 900 positioned around the Red Zone to establish a fortified perimeter. The security coverage has been extended to key intersections such as Zero Point and F-8 Club Road, with additional forces stationed at strategic locations like the Katti Pahari and Gran Interchange.
Internal Routes Blocked and Communication Disrupted
To further hinder the movement of PTI supporters, all internal and external access points to Islamabad have been sealed. The city’s security has been bolstered with heavy police deployment at 24 key locations. Additionally, mobile phone services are expected to be temporarily suspended to curb any organized efforts.
Negotiations Break Down, Protests Expected to Escalate
Despite ongoing talks, sources report a deadlock on key issues, including PTI's demand for the release of arrested workers and the relocation of party leader Imran Khan. As PTI workers continue to march towards Islamabad from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab, tensions remain high.
Emergency Services Prepared for Any Contingency
Emergency services in Islamabad have been put on high alert, with hospitals fully staffed and academic institutions repurposed to accommodate law enforcement and detainees. As the situation remains fluid, the government remains hopeful that these security measures will prevent the protests from succeeding.
