Islamabad, March 3, 2025 – The Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan has officially updated and notified the curricula for four academic disciplines: Political Science, Islamic Studies, Remote Sensing & GIS, and Architecture.

According to a press release issued by HEC, the revised curricula were developed through the National Curriculum Review Committees (NCRCs) to enhance academic standards, align education with industry needs, and integrate emerging trends in these fields.

The committees consisted of senior professors, faculty members, scholars, representatives from accreditation councils, research organizations, and industry experts. The review process was led by Prof. Dr. Muqarrab Akbar (Political Science), Prof. Dr. Shah Mohyuddin Hashmi (Islamic Studies), Prof. Dr. Atta-ur-Rahman (Remote Sensing & GIS), and Ar. Muhammad Arif Changazi (Architecture). Mr. Hidayatullah Kasi, Deputy Director of HEC, facilitated the proceedings as Secretary.

The updated curricula cover key academic aspects, including degree nomenclature, eligibility criteria, program learning outcomes, course structures, degree requirements, and elective options. The revisions are designed to meet international education standards while addressing Pakistan’s academic and market demands. Each curriculum provides guidelines for levels 05, 06, and 07 under the National Qualifications Framework.

HEC has directed universities across Pakistan to implement the new curricula promptly to ensure consistency and quality in higher education. The updated syllabi are available on the HEC website.
