Kashmir Solidarity Day-A Call for Justice!

What is Kashmir Solidarity Day?

Another day of solidarity with Kashmiris has arrived, but the sufferings of Kashmiris remain the same and further increased, especially after the Indian illegal actions of August 2019. Millions of Kashmiris have sacrificed their lives since the late 1980s, and those alive have suffered human rights violations and political repression for more than 70 years.

Pakistan's Role in Kashmir Issue

Pakistan is the world's only advocate and supporter of Kashmiris; its people and all governments have put this relationship above all political affiliations. This is why "Kashmir Day" has been celebrated enthusiastically every year for over three decades.

The day was celebrated first time in 1989 when Nawaz Sharif was the Chief Minister of Punjab and Benazir Bhutto was the Prime Minister at the Centre. Despite political differences, the two leaders agreed to celebrate the day for a greater cause۔ Today, when this day is being celebrated after thirty-four years, again, the joint government of the Muslim League-N and the People's Party is established at the center.

Kashmir Day: a challenge to the World's Conscience

This day reminds us to raise our voices to bring justice, peace, and the right to self-determination to the Kashmiri people as the international community has largely failed to recognize the struggle of Kashmiris, and the United Nations has been reluctant to address it as well.

This is why Kashmir Solidarity Day has become increasingly important to draw attention to the plight of Kashmiris and advocate their right to self-determination. The day is celebrated with protests and rallies through online campaigns, educational activities, and outreach.

Human Rights Violations in Kashmir

Jammu and Kashmir is a contested territory ruled by India where human rights abuses have been going on for a long time. Allegations include outright obstruction of free expression and religious assembly, extrajudicial killings, and enforced disappearances.
The Kashmiri people have been facing serious human rights violations. In particular, Indian security forces have been accused of extrajudicial killings, torture, arbitrary arrests and detentions, and other crimes against humanity. The Indian government has also imposed strict restrictions on freedom of expression and peaceful protest in Kashmir.

Commemoration of Kashmir Solidarity Day

Every year on February 5th, Pakistanis and Kashmiris worldwide observe Kashmir Solidarity Day. They reaffirm their unwavering support and send a strong message to the world that Kashmiris are not alone in their fight against the colonial forces.
Pakistan urges the international community to intervene to stop the heinous human rights violations in IIOJK and ensure a peaceful resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir conflict following UN Security Council Resolutions and the Kashmiri people's aspirations.

Kashmir Solidarity Day is an opportunity to express solidarity with Kashmiris and raise awareness about their plight. This day expects people worldwide to stand up in favor of oppressed Kashmiris. The time has come to end the suffering of the Kashmiris, this war must end now, and Kashmiris must get the right to self-determination.

Conclusion:

It is important to acknowledge that the situation in Kashmir is complex and has been a longstanding issue. All parties involved must work towards finding a peaceful and just resolution through dialogue and diplomacy. The well-being and safety of the people living in Kashmir should be a top priority for everyone. Any actions taken should prioritize their interests and respect their human rights.

Let us use this day to express our solidarity and support for the people of Kashmir!!
